Silver Spurs

We’ll take you into the round pen to see what it’s like to train a wild mustang.

Hi Friends Welcome to the Wild Side I’m Steve Hall

American Wild Mustangs from out West are finding new homes here in Tennessee.

In fact, in 2023 and 2024 the Mustang Heritage Foundation held the Extreme Mustang Makeover in the Williamson County Ag Expo Park.

The Makeover is a competition to train these feral horses in a relatively short amount of time.

Our coverage of the events, and our love of horses, got us thinking…

maybe we should do our part to preserve and protect.

So Annette entered the competition and we are going to take you through the process of what it’s like to adopt a wild horse that needs a home.

Long before there was a Mustang Heritage Foundation or an Extreme Mustang Makeover,

there was the Carr’s Cross Plains Wild Horse and Burro Center finding homes for 30,000 American Mustangs.

Five years ago when we featured Randall and Paula Carr on Wild Side, Paula told Annette she would take her as a guest to the next Extreme Mustang Makeover.

Then Covid hit and everything shut down.

Little could we have known that five years later, Annette would be going as a competitor to document how it works.

Stay with us in the weeks to come… and we’ll take you along to see Simeon and Annette participating at the competition alongside professional trainers.
