Our Wild Side shows are produced many weeks in advance… and because of this we can’t always address things as they happen. It certainly doesn’t diminish the magnitude of what we want to tell you about now. Many of you already know our city, our state, our country, and even those listening on line. around the world, have lost one of the greatest advocates for country music.
And there was no better host of Tennessee’s Wild Side than Bill Cody. We launched the show back at the turn of the 21st century...with Bill leading the way. His voice was unforgettable… on Wild Side… WSM radio…and the Grand Ole Opry. Bill passed away in June, 2026 at the age of 67. . His presence on air… was the same as it was in person. He was pleasant and kind to everyone. So, we are remembering Bill with stories from Wild Side Way Back… beginning with one one called “A Moment in Time.”
It was fun getting to celebrate with Bill at the 100th anniversary of WSM, where Annette and I were also employed many years ago. Even though Bill was already in failing health, he was his same happy self, welcoming all the stations former employees and treating each of us as an honored guest. May his legacy live on.
