Youth Duck Hunt

For boys and girls how have never been, a duck hunting trip can be a life changing experience, with the help and guidance of some experienced hunters.

There’s hardly anything more exciting than seeing a young person enjoying the thrill of a new experience. There are plenty of wide eyes and big smiles to go around, especially when the boys and girls are in a hunting blind in the middle of a flooded west Tennessee field. Wild Side Guide Alan Griggs shows us how lives can be changed through the help and guidance of experienced hunters.

The Davis P. Rice Youth Waterfowl Hunt is an annual event that is one of the largest of its kind in the nation. The 2013 hunt involved over 140 young people and 100 volunteers, with around 5 thousand dollars in scholarships given away. Hosted by the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, the hunt honors Davis P. Rice, who was killed in an automobile accident in 2007. Davis P. Rice was an avid waterfowl hunter and a memorial scholarship fund has been placed in his name.
