Wounded Warrior Turkey Hunt

Wounded American soldiers take to the woods in search of turkey...and healing memories of a day spent in the Tennessee outdoors.

The desire to help those less fortunate or in need is a noble feeling instilled in many Americans from a young age. Today that feeling is even more important in light of the many conflicts American servicemen and women have been fighting around the world. That explains the importance and popularity of Wounded Warrior hunts. The hunters are those who have been wounded while helping to protect us and preserving the freedoms we have. Wild Side Guide Bill Cody takes us to a hunt in East Tennessee sponsored by the Tennessee Wildlife Federation and Wheelin’ Sportsman, as a way of saying thank you to those men and women while providing them with a much-needed chance to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded American servicemen and women. You can learn more on their website, WoundedWarriorProject.org.

Wheelin’ Sportsman is an outreach program of the National Wild Turkey Federation that helps people with disabilities enjoy the outdoors through activities like hunting, fishing and shooting. In addition to local chapter events, Wheelin’ Sportsmen hosts an assortment of other national events. You can learn more on their website, NWTF.org.

The Tennessee Wildlife Federation is one of the largest and oldest environmental organizations in Tennessee, dedicated to the conservation of our wildlife and natural resources through stewardship, youth engagement, and public policy. The Federation partners with other groups like the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Ducks Unlimited, the National Wildlife Federation, the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and more, to conserve and improve Tennessee’s natural resources and protect our state’s rich heritage of hunting and fishing. You can learn more on their website, TNWF.org.
