Virgin Waters (Carrol County Lake)

It's every fisherman's dream: A thousand-acre lake all to yourself. Even better? A lake that's been stocked with fish and YOU are the first one to fish it. You'll have to see this one to believe it.

From show #2406. It’s every fisherman’s dream… a thousand-acre lake all to yourself.  And even better… a lake that’s been stocked with fish and YOU are the first one to fish it. Sound too good to be true? Well that’s exactly what happened to Wild Side Guide Joey Monteleone on Carroll County Lake in West Tennessee, when the TWRA asked him to help them out with a little fish research. Hey, it’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it!

Right now, Joey holds the lake record for the largest bass…three and one-quarter pounds. But we’ll all get a chance to beat that when the lake opens in March of 2013. While the lake is stocked mostly with young bass, there are some big ones from some established ponds that got absorbed into the new lake. And the number of big bass is going to grow, in part because the TWRA is going to manage it as a “quality bass” lake. That means keepers have to be eighteen inches….and you can only take two a day.
