Tower of Flower

These days, wildflowers can be found all over — including some of the most unlikely places.

(Spoiler alert: If you want to be surprised by the location, watch the story before you read more!)

From show 2507. Preserving native plants and animals doesn’t always require lots of study or management plans. Sometimes it can be as simple as planting a native tree…or flower. These days, wildflowers can be found all over, even in urban areas, as homeowners discover that going native is a great way to landscape. Wild Side Guide Ken Tucker takes us to Franklin, where these native beauties can be found in the most unlikely of places.

Mike Berkley and Terri Barnes with GroWild, Inc. are responsible for planting and maintaining all the native plants on the roof of the Franklin Police headquarters. Since it is a secure area, the roof is not open to the general public…but they do allow groups to come on guided tours. Contact Brad Wilson with the City of Franklin at brad.wilson@franklin.tn.gov for more information.
