Hi Friends Welcome to the Wild Side I’m Steve Hall
A few weeks ago we did a story here on a hike they call the Birds of Bicentennial. We did not expect to be back at this park again so soon. But the morning after we finished editing that story, the devastating tornado that tore through Tennessee also destroyed many of the original trees here at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park.
Rangers responded as they always do from across the state, some experiencing their very first disaster.
Hands on Nashville also sent volunteers to help pick up brush and debris.
Since Nashville was declared a disaster area, federal funds will be available to reimburse restoration of the park. However, park officials will have to find the money to initially restore the trees as reimbursement can take up to three years.
