Tennessee Tree Project

In a world where we are often “working for the weekend” you might be hard pressed to find anyone working harder than a volunteer. It seems the more we get out on the Wild Side, the more workers we meet willing to put in a full day for free. This time it’s tree planters organized by the Tennessee Environmental Council putting in the hours; and as Annette Nole Hall tells us, the pay off for the Tennessee Tree Project, is priceless.

In 50 years one tree provides over one hundred and thirty thousand dollars in oxygen, air pollution control and storm water drainage benefits. So far nearly 100 thousand trees have been planted across the state as a part of the project. Plans are also in the works to set a new Guinness world record for the most trees planted in one day.
