Special Kids Turkey Hunt

Tradition is important in the outdoors… knowing what went before you and building on what’s happened in the past. That’s what some folks down in Giles County had in mind when they started an annual turkey hunt for young people with serious handicaps and health problems.

As Wild Side Guide Craig Owensby tells us, it’s all done in memory of a young cancer patient, Deanna Glossup, who spent much of her short life helping others. The turkey hunt raised nearly $7000 dollars to help families of kids with serious illnesses through the Deanna Glossup Foundation. We would like to dedicate this show to Colt Perry, the young man we hunted with in this segment. Colt passed away recently, leaving us saddened, but glad we could be a part of one of his last hunts. If you would like to remember Colt and kids like him, please consider making a donation to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in his name. From show 2408.
