Special Campers

At this special camp at Montgomery Bell State Park, kids get an opportunity to experience outdoor adventure in ways they never have before.

Junior Ranger camps have been helping kids get out in nature for years. But until recently, one very special group of kids wasn’t really able to experience many of the outdoor activities of camp…things like fishing, canoeing, and archery. Wild Side Guide Eve Annunziato takes us to Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson County, where some dedicated park rangers made sure everyone had a fun time exploring the outdoors.

For someone who hadn’t been to camp before, Summer and the rest of the kids certainly seemed right at home. They sure did. I can’t believe how many fish she caught…remind me to get her on my team come tournament time. And congratulations to Joshua Walsh who was named Ranger of the Year by the Tennessee Park Rangers Association. Josh has been a park ranger for nine years and is determined to help other parks organize their own camps for special needs children.
