Roaring River Dam Removal

Heavy Equipment is brought back to Roaring River 40 years after construction of a low head dam. This time the equipment is used to restore the river to the way it used to be before man made it change.

When we look at history it’s impossible to separate survival from natural resources. The woods provided plants and animals for food…and the rivers gave up fish while offering a way to travel that was faster than horseback.

We’re taking you to a place now that got its name from Daniel Boone… where Davy Crockett’s cousin met an untimely death…and where modern man tried to tame the wild using heavy equipment.

More than 40 years later… big machines are brought back to Roaring River…this time to try and restore it to the way it used to be.
