Cedar Glades Natural Area

Viewers get a first glimpse of the state's newest natural area. The John and Hester Lane Cedar Glades was once a family farm, now, it's rocky terrain and shallow soil is providing a unique environment and a promising future for endangered wildflowers.

We’ve seen many family farms disappear over the years only to be replaced by subdivisions and shopping centers.

As those properties have sold, there has also been a loss of woodlands and meadows that provide safe habitat for wildlife.

But this is a story of a farm that was purchased by the state instead of developers.  It’s rocky ground with limestone and cedar trees… create an ideal and unique environment  for endangered wildflowers.

Wild Side Guide Craig Owensby takes us just south of Lebanon to the John and Hester Lane Cedar Glades… the states newest natural area.
