In this crazy, hurry-up world, everybody seems to be going in a different direction. It’s hard for married couples to stay together — even when they stay together. In fact, this story is about a marriage that has absolutely gone to the dogs. But in this case, it’s actually a good thing. As Wild Side Guide Steve Hall shows us, this is a couple having a doggone good time staying together…even when they’re competing against each other.
The story of how Jamie and Bill first met is a good one. Bill heard all about her from a friend on a fishing trip in Key West and decided she was one outdoorswoman he wanted to meet. So when he got back home, he called her legislative office and said, “I want to be totally honest with you. This call has nothing to do with what’s going on in the legislature. I just wanted to ask you out on a date.” After deciding he wasn’t some sort of stalker… Jamie said “yes.” And many dates later… she said “yes” again!
The Middle Tennessee Amateur Retriever Club has been operating since 1961 and is now considered a flagship for retriever field sports, drawing entries from all over the world. They hold two field trials every year and are always looking for people who love retrievers to join them…even if they don’t have a lot of experience. Here are some other clubs across the state:
Northeast Tennessee Retriever Club
Tennessee River Hunting Retriever Club
West Tennessee Hunting Retriever Club
Mid-South Hunting Retriever Club
