Taking on the App Challenge

What started out as a fun way to spend some father-daughter time outdoors turned into a quest to visit every state park in Tennessee.

Those of us who don’t get out and explore as much as we ought to can find some inspiration in the adventures of Travis Gleaves and his daughter Rachel. Travis lives in Nashville and in his free time, loves enjoying nature with Rachel. In fact, he loves it so much, he ended up visiting every state park over the course of a year with the help of a handy app on his phone. Wild Side Guide Craig Owensby caught up with Travis and Rachel out at Old Stone Fort State Park doing what they do best…spending time together outdoors.

Rachel, congratulations on catching all those fish…we are particularly envious of that nice catfish! And congratulations to Travis for winning the challenge. According to Rachel, he’s also in the running for the “Best Dad” award, which is the one that really counts.

You can learn more about some of Travis and Rachel’s favorite places to explore by visiting the Tennessee State Parks website. Just click on any park…Travis has been there. Or you can look it up on the Pocket Ranger app like Travis did…it’s free and works on any smartphone. You can learn more about it, including where to download it, here.
