Saving Rocky Fork

Wild Side Guide Alan Griggs first visited Rocky Fork several years ago when it's future was in doubt; today he tells how this land was saved for future generations.

For those of you who think you can’t make a difference in the world, we have the story of one man who did just that. A big difference in fact. David Ramsey realized his ancestors’ home would soon be lost if he didn’t stand up for what he believed. Generations of David’s family were raised in the tiny community of Rocky Fork, located in the mountains of Unicoi and Green counties in northeast Tennessee.

When a resort developer announced he had his eye on the property, David inspired others to join him in saving one of the last great expanses of hardwood forest and mountain streams in the eastern United States. Wild Side Guide Alan Griggs first visited Rocky Fork several years ago when it’s future was in doubt. Today he tells us how this very special land is now set aside for future generations.
