Ruskin Cave Hummingbird Helper

The banding of hummingbirds is made even more magical with the assistance of a very intelligent young helper.

We’re taking some time to go back to Ruskin Cave in Dickson County. It’s a popular wedding venue and also a place where hummingbirds can stop to refuel during their dangerous travels.

The man in charge there Doug Jackson, makes sure there’s always plenty for the hummers to eat… and he brings in experts who study their migration patterns.

This time they had a special research assistant… Doug’s granddaughter… a very entertaining addition to the day’s work.
