Rock Climbing

All along Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau you'll find lots of hard rock, long cracks and overhangs, and an incredible variety of climbing routes offering something for climbers of any skill level.

When it comes to life’s challenges, you can’t hide from them…you’ve got to meet them head on. Of course some people don’t just meet life’s challenges, they actually go looking for them. Rock climbers are those kind of people, not afraid to test their limits by trying something new. Here in Tennessee there are plenty of climbing opportunities ready to test your mettle. Places like South Cumberland State Park on the Cumberland Plateau, home to lots of hard rock, long cracks and overhangs, and an incredible variety of climbing routes offering something for climbers of any skill level.

One of the best ways to get started in the sport is to hook up with some experienced climbers like Vince did. But don’t be afraid to get off the couch and give it a go…you might be surprised at just how high you can climb. Here are a few resources to use to find out more about rock climbing in Tennessee.
