P.J.’s First Fish

This is a story about a little boy… who got a very special surprise, early on a summer morning. It just took a few minutes, but it may have changed his life… and his parents say it may have changed theirs too. Wild Side Guide Craig Owensby takes us there.

There’s no need to go to some faraway place or spend a lot of money to go fishing. Our state is full of ponds and creeks where a beginner can get started. And if you haven’t fished before, it’s pretty easy to find someone to show you how. Visit the TWRA website at www.tnwildlife.org to learn more about fishing. And remember, you’re never too young… or too old… to take your first steps into Tennessee’s Wild Side.

We’d like to give a big Wild Side shout out to Doug Markham. Not only did Doug volunteer his time for P.J.’s special day, he even gave the family some rods, reels and tackle. A gift they’re putting to good use by taking PJ fishing on their own…a great way for any family to spend a day together outdoors.
