Mountain Music Fish Tourney

See what happens when about 400 eager kids head to the lake in search of bass, prizes, and a great time at a fishing tournament that's just for them!

Whether it’s smallmouth, largemouth, crappie or catfish, fishing in Tennessee is better than ever. That means it’s a great time for people of all ages to grab a rod and some bait and head out to the nearest fishing hole. In this case, the fishing hole is Douglas Lake on the French Broad River in East Tennessee. And as Wild Side Guide Janet Ivey found out, the hands grabbing those rods belong to about four hundred—yes, four hundred— kids eager to catch some fish and win some prizes at the Mountain Music Kids Bass Tournament.

Taking kids fishing is a great way for a family to spend the day together outdoors. Visit the TWRA website to learn more about fishing opportunities, Free Fishing day, or purchase a license.
