Island Mountain Pat

Pat Riley loves the carefree mountain life of his Dekalb County home, where he can hang out, hunt, fish, swim...and make music.

Abundant wildlife is just one thing our state can boast about when it comes to enjoying the outdoors. But let’s be honest, the laid back life that comes from living near the beach and a tiki bar isn’t one of them. Unless, you’re willing to substitute mountains and rivers, which is what one Lancaster, Tennessee man is doing. Wild Side Guide Terry Bulger introduces us to Pat Riley….who’s found his Margaritaville near Center Hill Lake.

As much fun as Pat and his songwriting buddies have making music on the front porch….you’re also likely to find them at playing places like the Bluebird, Tootsies, and the Commodore lounge. Don Mealer, who is also known as PooBah, has published hundreds of songs, including some recorded by Patty Loveless and Billy Dean. And while his music has played on radio stations around the world, Pat says there’s no place he’d rather be than home in Tennessee.

“I don’t belong in the city. I just belong here…every cell in my body says you’re home.”                    — Pat Riley, songwriter and recording artist
