Castle Rock

Climbers take on the difficult challenges posed by Castle Rock near Jasper, Tennessee. They are working with conservation groups to make sure the iconic cliff is protected for future generations of climbers.

Rock climbing can be a sport of difficult challenges, and that can include facing a fear of falling… or a fear of failure.  But a good partner can help alleviate those concerns.  It’s all about teamwork to achieve a safe and successful adventure.  While a climber must use skill and agility to find just the right places for hands and feet, he or she is dependent on a belayer, who holds control of the rope.   It’s important that these partners work together and trust each other.  And it is this kind of teamwork that has also proven effective in protecting the future of Castle Rock, one of the most popular cliffs for climbers in the Southeast.   Several climbing groups and conservation organizations have combined efforts to reach a new peak of preservation: Tennessee River Gorge Trust  Land Trust for Tennessee  Access Fund  Southastern Climbers Coalition
