There are many ways to connect with nature. A group of music students from Franklin Road Academy found their connection by helping other kids. Wild Side Guide Steve Hall takes us to the banks of Browns Creek in Nashville, where the students’ musical instruments were set aside for digging implements as they become part of a volunteer work force, striving to prevent pollution.
While impervious surfaces like roofs, roads, and parking lots continue to increase as development spreads, planting trees can greatly reduce the amount of stormwater runoff in urban areas. And it’s something that anyone, young or old, can help to do.
